Off-Road Adventures ends

Forget the tarmac. Our private 4x4 expeditions take you across volcanic mountain ranges, ancient caravan pistes, hidden desert valleys, and Berber nomad country that most tours never reach — because most tours don't have the drivers, the vehicles, or the local knowledge to get there.

About these journeys

The Morocco that doesn't appear on postcards

There are two Moroccos. The first one is on every travel blog — Marrakech souks, blue Chefchaouen, camel rides at Erg Chebbi. Beautiful, and worth seeing.

The second Morocco is harder to reach. It's the black volcanic silence of Jebel Saghro, the cliff-top granaries of the Anti-Atlas, the hidden palm oases of the Draa Valley, the nomad families who still move with the seasons between the High Atlas and the Sahara edge.

You need a proper 4x4, a driver who grew up on these routes, and enough days to slow down. We provide all three.

Every off-road expedition is private — your vehicle, your group, your schedule. We rebuild each route the week before it runs, based on weather, piste conditions, and what you actually want to see.

03 · Luxury

A luxury Sahara
is still a real one.

Off-road doesn't mean roughing it. Our desert expeditions combine genuine wilderness access — remote ergs, unmarked pistes, places no tour bus reaches — with accommodation that doesn't compromise on comfort.

We work exclusively with three family-run luxury camps in Erg Chebbi and Erg Chigaga. Private tents with en-suite bathrooms, proper beds, and dinners prepared from scratch. You'll fall asleep to silence and wake up to a dune that has no footprints on it yet.

The adventure is real. The bed is excellent. Both things are possible.

Good to know

Frequently asked questions about off-road tours.

Do I need off-road driving experience? +

None at all — you're a passenger. Our certified drivers handle everything. They've crossed these routes hundreds of times and know every piste, every seasonal condition, and every shortcut. Your job is to look out the window and enjoy it.

What vehicles do you use for off-road tours? +

Toyota Land Cruiser LC150 and Prado TX for groups of up to 6 passengers. All vehicles are owned and maintained by us — not rented from a third party. Average vehicle age is under 4 years. Every vehicle carries a full emergency kit, satellite communicator, and spare parts for remote piste driving.

How remote are these routes — is there mobile signal? +

Some routes have no mobile signal for extended stretches — particularly the Jebel Saghro crossing and the deep Erg Chigaga expedition. This is part of the experience, and part of the point. Our drivers carry satellite communicators for emergencies. We brief you on this fully before departure.

Is accommodation comfortable or is it camping? +

Both options exist, and both are comfortable. Our luxury desert camps have private tents with real beds, en-suite bathrooms with hot showers, and proper dinners. For travellers who prefer it, we also offer traditional Berber bivouac camping under the stars — a completely different but equally memorable experience.

Which starting cities do you offer off-road tours from? +

We depart from Marrakech, Ouarzazate, Fes, and Tangier. The most popular starting point for Sahara off-road tours is Marrakech or Ouarzazate. Rif mountain piste tours typically start from Tangier or Fes. Tell us where you're flying into and we'll build the route from there.

Can I combine an off-road tour with a cultural city stay? +

Absolutely — most of our best itineraries do exactly this. A typical 8-day tour might start with two days in Fes medina, then head south through the Middle Atlas, crossing into nomad country before finishing in the Sahara. We design the combination around what interests you most.

What's the best time of year for off-road tours in Morocco? +

October to April is ideal. The light is extraordinary, temperatures are comfortable, and the pistes are at their most accessible. July and August are possible but extremely hot in the south — we're honest about this and advise against desert expeditions in peak summer unless you're specifically prepared for it.
