Marrakech → High Atlas Mountains → Skoura → Dades Gorges
Your tour begins with a morning pickup from your Marrakech accommodation. The drive heads south-east through the High Atlas Mountains via the Tizi-n-Tichka Pass — your driver-guide stops at the most scenic viewpoints along the route and you are welcome to request a stop at any point. Lunch is in Aït Ben Haddou or Ouarzazate, then the journey continues toward Dades Gorges through the lush Skoura oasis and the enchanting Rose Valley. In Skoura, an optional visit to the Amridil Kasbah — one of Morocco's finest fortified villages — is well worth the detour. Travelling in spring, the Rose Valley in full bloom is a spectacular sight not to be missed. Arriving at Dades Gorges, the extraordinary "monkey fingers" rock formations and a sweeping panoramic view of the gorge greet you before you settle in at your hotel for dinner and an overnight stay.

After breakfast, a scenic drive along the Dades and Todra rivers through palm groves and traditional Berber villages leads to the world-famous Todra Gorge in Tinghir — one of the most breathtaking canyons anywhere on earth. From there, the journey continues toward Merzouga. On the road to Erg Chebbi, your driver-guide may suggest a stop at a traditional Berber shop where you can try on a Berber outfit and take photographs for free. It is a genuine opportunity to connect with Berber culture — there is no obligation to buy anything, and if you prefer to skip it, simply let your guide know. Arriving in Merzouga, an unforgettable camel ride awaits. Watch the sunset over the dunes and try sandboarding on the way down. Retreat to a luxury desert camp for dinner and spend the night experiencing the timeless magic of the Saharan night sky.
Merzouga → Khamlia → Rissani → Agdez → Ouarzazate
Wake early to catch the sunrise from the nearest dune — one of the great quiet moments of any desert experience. After breakfast at the camp, return to Merzouga by camel or 4x4. A short drive from town brings you to Khamlia village, celebrated for its captivating Gnawa music — a Moroccan musical tradition with deep roots in sub-Saharan Africa. Take time to listen before continuing to Rissani — an ancient city of considerable historical importance as the birthplace of Morocco's ruling royal dynasty and a key stop on historic trans-Saharan caravan routes. If your visit falls on a Tuesday, Thursday, or Sunday, the traditional Moroccan souk here is well worth exploring. From Rissani, the drive continues through the scenic Draa Valley with a stop in Agdez for panoramic views over the palm oasis. The journey ends in Ouarzazate where you check into your accommodation for the night.

After breakfast, the morning is spent exploring Ouarzazate — known as the Hollywood of Africa and the gateway to the Sahara. The city is home to Atlas Studios, the largest film studio on the continent, as well as the historic Taourirt Kasbah. From Ouarzazate, the drive continues to Aït Ben Haddou where you explore the ancient fortified kasbah — a UNESCO World Heritage Site since 1987 and a filming location for Gladiator, The Mummy, and Game of Thrones. After exploring this remarkable historic site, the drive heads north through the majestic Atlas Mountains back toward Marrakech. Along the way, a stop at the extraordinary Telouet Kasbah — a largely unknown gem and one of the most atmospheric historic sites in Morocco — before the final stretch into Marrakech where your driver drops you at your accommodation.

What if I don't want to ride a camel?
No problem — we transfer you directly to the desert camp by 4x4 at no extra charge. Your comfort always comes first.
Do the desert camps have private bathrooms?
Yes — every camp in our selection is a luxury camp with private en-suite bathrooms and showers. We never book basic shared-bathroom camps.
What vehicle will we travel in?
Smaller groups travel in a Toyota Land Cruiser or similar 4x4. Larger groups use a Ford Tourneo Custom or Mercedes Sprinter minibus. All vehicles are private, air-conditioned, and chosen for comfort on long driving days.
How far in advance should I book?
We recommend booking at least 2 to 3 weeks ahead, particularly during peak season from March to May and September to November. Last-minute bookings are sometimes possible — just WhatsApp us to check availability.
How does payment work?
A small deposit confirms your booking, payable via PayPal, bank transfer, or Wise. The remaining balance is settled in cash on the first day of the tour in euros, US dollars, or Moroccan dirhams.
