The 5-day tour begins with a pick-up from your hotel or riad in Fes. Several noteworthy stops mark the journey toward the desert — the charming town of Ifrane, the cedar forest near Azrou where Barbary macaques can be spotted, and the picturesque Ziz Valley. Arriving in the Merzouga desert in the afternoon, an authentic camel ride across the mesmerizing dunes begins — culminating in a breathtaking sunset from atop a high dune. Full Day Exploring the Merzouga Desert
Early risers are rewarded with a breathtaking sunrise. After a delicious breakfast, an adventurous full day in the Merzouga desert begins. The first stop is Khamlia — a village famous for its Gnawa music style, played by descendants of sub-Saharan Africans. From there a 4x4 takes you off-road to Mefis, an abandoned village with Galena mines — a mineral historically used in cosmetics. A nomadic family living near the Erg Chebbi dunes is then visited — warm Berber hospitality and insights into their way of life are shared over tea in a traditional tent. After a satisfying lunch, a charming riad with views of the golden Erg Chebbi dunes is your base for the afternoon — time to relax or take a swim before a leisurely stroll to the dunes for another sunset.

After breakfast at the riad, the drive to Dades Valley begins. Along the way stops are made at Rissani, Tinghir Oasis, Todra Canyon, and Todra Gorge. If market day falls today in Rissani — Sunday, Tuesday, or Thursday — a traditional Moroccan market is running, with local crafts, spices, and street food worth exploring. Plenty of stops are made throughout the journey to photograph the landscapes and learn about local traditions. At Todra Canyon, a leisurely stroll beneath the towering cliffs is a highlight. Arriving in Dades Valley in the afternoon, you check into your hotel for dinner and overnight.
