Can I join the tour with my own 4×4?
Yes! Sahara Discovery is designed for travelers who want to explore the Sahara in their own 4×4 or overlanding vehicle. You drive your vehicle while our local guide leads the way in a separate 4×4.
Can I join if I don't have my own 4×4?
Of course. You can travel in our 4×4 with a local driver-guide and enjoy the desert without needing to drive yourself. Confirm vehicle availability when booking.
Where does the tour start?
The tour starts in the Merzouga area, with the exact meeting point agreed before departure. If you arrive in your own vehicle, we will meet you and explain the route before setting off. we can pick you up from the airpot too.
What tour durations are available?
You can choose a half-day excursion, a full-day adventure or a multi-day expedition. The route and overnight stops depend on your chosen package.
Where will we go during the tour?
Depending on the duration and conditions, routes may include Erg Chebbi viewpoints, rocky desert plains, the M’Fis area, Khamlia, Taouz and the Ouzina region. Your guide will confirm the itinerary before departure.
What type of vehicle do I need?
A suitable 4×4 with appropriate ground clearance is recommended for off-road routes. Not every vehicle or tire setup is suitable for sand or rough tracks. We will discuss your vehicle before confirming the itinerary.
Can I join with friends in several vehicles?
Yes, private groups with multiple vehicles can be arranged, subject to group size, route suitability and availability. Please tell us how many vehicles and participants will join.
Is this tour suitable for families?
Yes. Easier routes can suit families, but remote off-road expeditions may involve rough terrain and long driving periods. Let us know the ages of any children so we can suggest an appropriate itinerary.
